Prince Harry and Kate Middleton shared a special bond where they considered each other as their real sibling. So, when Prince William and Middleton got engaged years ago, Prince Harry said that he was so happy because he finally has a sister.
Prince Harry and Kate Middleton’s bond even strengthened over time. After all, Prince Harry didn’t have anyone but Prince William and his sister-in-law to turn to during his most difficult days. But all this changed after he married Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry Wanted Kate Middleton To Be Friendlier Towards Meghan Markle
According to reports, Prince Harry had big hopes that Middleton would also bond with his wife shortly after they tied the knot. Unfortunately, this isn’t what happened. In fact, it even reached a point where Prince Harry confronted Prince William so that the latter would encourage his wife to be friendlier towards the Duchess of Sussex.
“Members of their family, said Harry, were not showing her [Meghan] sufficient support, respect, or friendship. Meghan, Harry believed, should be just as appreciated as their mother [Princess Diana],” royal author Tom Bower wrote in his book Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors (via Marie Claire).

Prince Harry Wanted Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton To Be Best Friends
Royal expert Katie Nicholl previously told Glamour that Prince Harry would’ve been very happy if his wife and sister-in-law forged a tight bond. Unfortunately, this isn’t what happened. But this doesn’t also mean that Markle and Middleton are feuding with each other.
“I think this idea of there being a catfight between the two duchesses has made tantalizing headlines, but I don’t believe that. I’ve never heard from my sources that there has ever been a feud or a falling out. I had heard about an upset over the dress fitting for Princess Charlotte. And I had heard that while Harry was very keen for the two of them to become best friends, there was never that sort of a friendship,” Nicholl said.
Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton Didn’t Have Much In Common
The royal expert added that Markle and Middleton realized sooner rather than later that they didn’t have much in common. So, they never became friends.
“They quite quickly realized they were two pretty mature women—quite different women—and really the only thing they had in common was they’d married princes. Not just Prince Harry, I think probably the world wanted them to become best friends,” she said.
In the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand also said the same thing. They said that Markle and Middleton are not best friends because they are quite different, but they are not at odds with each other either.
“Meghan would agree with the assessment that the duchesses were not the best of friends. Their relationship hadn’t progressed much since she was Harry’s girlfriend,” they said (via Yahoo! News).
