Prince Harry has not shied away from making comparisons between his late mother, Princess Diana, and his wife, Meghan Markle. Years ago, he released a statement urging the British press to stop publishing racist and sexist stories about the Duchess of Sussex. In the statement, he made direct links between his wife and mother.
“Meghan Markle has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public - the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments. Some of it has been hidden from the public - the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door…” the statement read.
Prince Harry Sees Meghan Markle As An Alternative To Princess Diana
Years later, royal expert Angela Levin claimed that Prince Harry became drawn to Markle because of her similarities to Princess Diana. However, Levin also said that it’s quite strange to be married to someone who is like his mother.
“One of the problems that I think is one of the causes is that Harry sees her as an alternative to his mother and that she's more like Diana than he could possibly have wished for. Now, this is a rather strange thing to want to marry somebody who's very much like your mother. The point is that he still believes that she's looking down on him and telling him everything that he should do,” Levin said (via Express).

Meghan Markle Believes She’s Super Special Because Prince Harry Likens Her To Princess Diana
The royal expert also recounted Prince Harry’s previous statement about Princess Diana looking down on him and his wife and being proud of the woman that he chose to marry. And even though Levin agrees that the Duchess of Sussex has some wonderful qualities, she doesn’t think that Markle is putting them to good use.
“And in the engagement, if you remember the TV announcement, he said that she would be jumping up and down for joy, his mother not Meghan and that they would be best friends and Meghan’s encouraged that - she wears the same perfume as Princess Diana did. And I think it's all gone to her head that she is super special. I think she's got fantastic qualities, but she doesn't use them very nicely,” she said.

Levin also claimed that Markle changed Prince Harry, and it’s like the Duke of Sussex is an entirely different person ever since he married his wife.
“I think the importance if you have a relationship, that you want somebody who brings out the best in you, and I think she's brought out the worst in Harry. Harry wears his heart on his sleeve, and you can look at him and see he's very unhappy. He's very resentful, he is very difficult and he's scared of his wife,” she said.
This isn’t the first time that Levin criticized Prince Harry and Markle. In March, the royal expert slammed the couple for bringing their two children to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration. After all, Levin believes that this wasn’t the right time for Lilibet Diana to be introduced to the royal family, especially Queen Elizabeth.
“I think it is wrong for them to bring their small children over at this time. The Queen is going to be very heavily in demand. There is a lot she has to do during that weekend. It will be hard for her because she doesn't have the energy or the mobility. To have small children, who don't know her, coming around for tea is another burden on her. They could have come any time before now, and done it quietly and nicely, and that would have been a very special and intimate family event. But with so much going on during the Jubilee, it is just the wrong time. In my view, it's another chance to make more money out of Netflix,” she said (via News Founded).
