Meghan Markle’s relationship with her father, Thomas Markle Sr., is reportedly still estranged. The father and daughter used to be very close, especially while Markle was still growing up.

After all, her mom, Doria Ragland wasn’t always around so she spent most days with her dad. But over the past six years, the Duchess of Sussex has not seen her dad in person. And they haven’t also had a proper conversation.

Thomas Markle Sr. Spoke With Tom Bower About Meghan Markle

Now, it has been revealed that Meghan Markle’s dad was one of the people who shared stories about the Duchess of Sussex in Tom Bower’s new book, Revenge: Meghan, Harry, and the War Between the Windsors. The author spoke to several people to piece together their accounts and include them in his book.

Following the release of Bower’s book, royal commentator Roya Nikkah claimed that Thomas used the book as an opportunity to air his side of the narrative.

“I think Thomas has used the book as a sort of, platform to try and re-establish his side of the narrative. You get much more of an understanding from Thomas Markle's point of view of Meghan's upbringing [and] the time she spent with her father. The relationship that is now portrayed as very close, is the one between Meghan and her mother. [But] actually, for great periods of her childhood and her teenage years, she was living with her father,” Nikkah said (via Express).

Meghan Markle Grew Up With Thomas Markle Sr. Because Doria Ragland Was Always At Work

This is not the first time that Markle’s childhood and upbringing were revealed to the public. Shortly after her relationship with Prince Harry made front page news, multiple publications also did extensive research about her parents.

It was revealed that Thomas and Ragland met on the set of a popular soap opera in the 1970s. In 1979, the two tied the knot and their only daughter was born two years later.

However, Thomas and Ragland’s marriage did not last very long. When the Duchess of Sussex was 6 years old, her parents divorced, according to Hello! magazine.

And since Ragland was busy with work, Markle grew up with her dad and her dad’s side of the family. Thomas has two other children, Thomas Markle Jr. and Samantha Markle who are also at odds with the Suits alum.

Meghan Markle Used To Call Herself A Daddy’s Girl

Before marrying Prince Harry, Markle was very fond of both of her parents. In fact, she had nothing but wonderful things to say about Ragland and Thomas.

During her interview with Glamour, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that her mom used to do social work and admitted that she was very proud of Ragland.

“For me to watch this level of life-long sensitivity to nurturing and caregiving, but at the same time, my mom has always been a free spirit. We can just have so much fun together, and yet, I'll still find so much solace in her support. That duality coexists the same way it would in a best friend,” she said.

Markle previously praised Thomas for investing blood, sweat, and tears in her. She also admitted to being a daddy’s girl, according to Express.

But all this changed shortly after she started dating her husband.
