NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Finally Returns After Lengthy Hiatus

It’s been three months since the last episode was released, and finally, the Nier Automata anime is set to return. Recently, it was revealed that NieR: Automata Ver1.1a will finally return and air Episodes 9 to 12 in July.

Instead of getting a rebroadcast or a weekly release though, fans will be treated to the release of the final four episodes in just one day.

This is great news for fans who have waited months for the anime to be completed.

The Nier anime is one of the shows most affected by the Winter 23 delays, so it’s great to see that it will finally get completed.

Nier Anime Returns After Several Months

Thanks to the game’s popularity, NieR: Automata Ver1.1a was among the most anticipated shows of the Winter 23 season. Though its broadcast soon hit a snag as it got hit with a delay.

As with many other shows during the season, a wave of COVID-19 caused the delay of the Nier anime following the third episode.

While the show returned with Episode 4 in February, the show went on another hiatus on March 19 after the eighth episode’s release.

Since then, Aniplex hasn’t shared many updates about the show. This is in contrast with other anime like Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible, which got a rebroadcast in the Spring 23 season.

Finally, Aniplex shared a new update on NieR: Automata Ver1.1a, and it was revealed that instead of restarting its broadcast, the anime will get a special program this July.

NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Episodes 9-12 Release Date Announced

Details on the show’s long-awaited return were shared on the anime’s official website.

There, it was revealed that the remaining episodes of the show will air in one special program on July 23.

Specifically, Episodes 9 to 12 will air on Tokyo MX, BS11, and Tochigi TV on July 23.

This is an unexpected development as many fans believed that a broadcast restart was going to happen, or at least a weekly release for the final set of episodes.

Currently, there’s no word yet on an international release date. However, it is expected that the final four episodes will be available on streaming platforms soon after their Japanese TV broadcast.

If this is the case, expect NieR: Automata Ver1.1a Episodes 9 to 12 to be available to stream on Crunchyroll on or after July 23, 2023.
