Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible Delayed

After several Winter 2023 anime shows got delayed, another anime was hit with a major delay. Earlier today, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible announced that Episode 7 onwards will be delayed.

The announcement was made via the anime’s official website and social media channels.

There, it was revealed that a rise in COVID infections among staff members was the delay’s cause.

While some shows this season are delayed indefinitely, Kubo is confirmed to return in the next season.

Over the weekend, two big anime shows announced delays, the first being NieR: Automata Ver1.1a.

Specifically, the anime’s fourth episode and beyond are delayed and will get broadcast at an unconfirmed date.

Soon after, Ayakashi Triangle also announced a delay. Unlike Nier, which is effectively on hiatus now, Ayakashi Triangle’s fifth episode and beyond will be delayed.

The rom-com anime's third episode still aired earlier this week while Episode 4 will air on Monday.

Both shows stated that COVID-19 infections were the cause of the delays, which makes sense considering that China is facing a massive wave of COVID infections. Though according to reports, COVID is not the sole reason.

Recently, several anime directors who have worked with Aniplex criticized the production company for mismanagement.

Aside from juggling too many anime projects that studios couldn’t handle, the company also insisted that anime shows still be made in Winter 2023.

This is despite warnings about how staff will get burnt out if they work over the holiday period.

While both NieR: Automata and Ayakashi Triangle are Aniplex shows, Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible is not an Aniplex production. This likely means other production companies are also being affected by recent events.

In the statement that was released on the show’s website, COVID-related issues have also been cited as the reason for the delay.

Though it seems that enough progress has been made in the next episodes compared to the other delayed shows because the third to sixth episodes are still set to air in the series’ time slot.

Though by the middle of February, Kubo will go on a long hiatus, so fans will have to wait well over a month before the series resumes.

Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible is set to re-air in April 2023. This means the show will essentially be a Spring 2023 anime.
