Kamala finally learns more about her roots and her trip to Karachi is definitely educational for her especially getting the information first-hand but now that she's at a different place and time, how will she get back in Ms. Marvel Episode 5? What Happened Before Ms. Marvel Episode 5?
Ms. Marvel Episode 4, Seeing Red, it starts with Kamala and her mother, Muneeba, finally flying home to Karachi as per the request of her grandmother, Sana. The passenger seated in the middle of them asks how Kamala is but the flight is intense because Muneeba and Kamala bring home their quarrel but Muneeba offers to have a truce for the sake of Sana.
At the airport, Kamala’s cousins are waiting for them and even Sana makes sure that she would not miss the moment that Kamala and Muneeba arrive back in Karachi. The bustling and hustling of the city fascinate Kamala and on their way home, Kamala looks at the jewelries of Sana. They arrive home and Muneeba decides the house could have some paint job.
Kamala enters the wrong room and she stumbled upon the artworks of Sana where she asks a lot of things about her but all Sana wants to talk about is family. Sana shows Kamala a picture from when Sana was a kid with her father and a portrait she painted of Aisha.
Kamala finally discovers the truth as she asks Sana why she sent the bangle to her. She confirms with Sana that she is a Djinn just like her grandmother and Sana reveals it to her with all calmness and acceptance that Kamala finds it weird. But hey, no one can change their genes, right?
Sana also reveals that the bangle saved her during the Partition. It was the last time the bangle was used before Kamala unlocked it and Sana tells Kamala that the trail of stars is what brought her back to her father, and that they would figure out together what the vision means, especially with the train to Karachi.
The next day, Kamala goes out with her cousins and Muneeba but they need to eat outside because Kamala is wearing jeans. Pakistanis love spicy food, however, Kamala is one of the exceptions who can’t handle its taste. While at the market, Kamala buys a lot of stuff but when her cousins invite her to join them for coffee, Kamala wanders off the train station.
Karachi Train Station looks like any other station except the fact that there is a closed-off section where Kamala finds a mural with Ant-Man with the words “You can start small and still be larger than life.” That’s a very Scott Lang thing to say, with a pun on his powers, then suddenly, a dagger flies in but misses Kamala.
A masked guy faces Kamala and she asks him if he is following her, his reply is that he senses the Noor nearby and thinks Kamala is dangerous. While fighting, the guy asks Kamala where she got the bangle that used to belong to Aisha, makes sure that Kamala isn’t a Clandestine, and they run off to a secret hideout of the Red Daggers.
The mask guy introduces himself as Kareem and in the hideout is their leader, Waleed. The Red Daggers make a promise or a pact to protect everyone from the unseen. Kamala asks if she is a Djinn but the Red Daggers believe that the people can call anyone a Djinn as long as they see something magical and want to put a word on the enchanted things that happen.
Waleed introduces Kamala to where Aisha and the Clandestines came from. Waleed pops up his props and it is definitely fantastic as he explains that the Noor dimension exists just behind a veil that separates the Noor dimension from the Earth. If the Clandestives get the bangle, there would be no veil and everything falls apart.
Kamala gets interested to know more about the bangle but Waleed is surprised to see that there are inscriptions on the bangle that weren’t there before which says “ what you seek is seeking you.”
Meanwhile, the Clandestines break free from imprisonment at the Department of Damage Control and they decide to leave Kamran behind because he is a traitor. Back at Sana’s home, Muneeba is still on her cleaning rampage and Sana tells her that the toffee boxes are for her.
At night, Kamala spends the night with her new friends and Kareem introduces himself with a nickname so when it is Kamala’s turn, she says it is “Sloth Baby,” like her YouTube channel. They eat biryani-to-go from plastic and Kamala worries that it may be spicy but she knows in her heart that she needs to be in that place.
The following day, Kamala is back at the hideout where she learns more how to wield her powers and Waleed mentions that Kamala is special because she has the powers of the Noor and it is unique to her that she can do whatever she wants to do with it. Waleed gives Kamala a vest with each thread having a piece of history and for her to remember her roots.
Their training is interrupted by the Clandestines and they are on the run, being chased on the street. Waleed sees that Kamala and Kareem will be cornered so instead of burying his knives on Najma, he chooses to throw it to the one chasing the two, causing his death, a sacrifice of his life to protect them.
They continue running until they reach a dead end and they decide to fight instead of flee. Kareem manages to kill one in front of Najma who realizes she already lost two of her people. Just as Najma is about to stab Kamala, Kamala defends herself by raising her bangle and as soon as the blade meets the bangle, Kamala goes flying into a void where she ends up at a train station.
Kamala is stunned to end up in front of a train and everyone is rushing to get a ride. Everyone around her is saying their goodbyes or worried that they would not have space on the train. Kamala climbs at the top of the train and it is clear to her where she is, when she is: it is the train to Karachi at the time of the Partition, the last one to leave, in 1947.

Ms. Marvel Episode 5 Spoilers, Theories, and Leaks
A lot of things are unpacked by the episode as Kamala learns the truth about her roots at Karachi and it is baffling how Muneeba knows about the stories of Sana but refuses to believe. Well, no one can blame her because Aisha is known for bringing shame to their family and all she needed then was a mother but Muneeba should’ve known better that Kamala is facing the same thing except the latter embraced it.
Speaking of Kamala, she just traveled back in time and she landed during the Partition in 1947 just after Najma’s blade meets with her bangle. Here’s the theory: the blade of Najma is her weapon from the Noor dimension and the bangle, being the key, the meeting of the two has a force so powerful that it opens a void through time and space.
If this happened before all the fiasco around time travel in the MCU, it would’ve been a surprise but no, it perfectly fits the narrative. To support the theory, it is possible that as the blade and the bangle meet, what Kamala is seeking has finally sought her. Remember what Waleed said, “what you seek is seeking you.” Could it be Aisha who sent Kamala to the time of the Partition?
If Aisha sought to aid Kamala in learning more about her powers, then, the story goes full circle – all back to where it started: the last train to Karachi in 1947. It’s the only logical thing to happen and it is about time for Kamala to finally meet Aisha whom she has been seeking for since she got the bangle and Aisha may also be seeking for her. Waleed’s words make sense.
It can also be that Kamala is the one who led Sana back to her father – that Kamala is the trail of stars that led her back to her family and Sana just didn’t see it because, well, Kamala is not from that time and place and she might just look like some orbs or she might’ve sent some guide through her hard light.
For now, Kamala is stuck in the past with no way home and there is only one thing that could lead her to the right path back to the present -- Aisha. After all, the Clandestines and the Red Dagger felt the Noor when used, it would be no surprise if Aisha would feel the same.
Aisha has some primordial power within her genes that allowed her to activate her powers of light when she wore the bangle, the same one that Kamala felt when she wore the same, well, it definitely runs in their genes.
Now, in various trailers, it is seen that Kamala is running through the fields and it is also seen that a line of people with torches are marching. Whether that is a good thing or not remains unknown but it is definitely not the present day because who uses torches today, anyway?
That brings everyone to Kamala coming back to 1947. She may have reached a village in Karachi and given that Aisha had a stained reputation back then, it would be no surprise if seeing Kamala wearing the bangle would leave them running after her with torches.
Meanwhile, in the present, surely only Kareem could tell the story of how Kamala got lost and if and when Sana would find out about it, she may also be of help in bringing her granddaughter back. After all, she is aware that they are Djinns, only that Muneeba could not accept it.
Family has been in the center of the whole series and surely, Muneeba, as any other mother out there who loses her child, would do everything she can to find Kamala, maybe even believing everything Sana would say. She loves Kamala so much, it has been seen throughout the show.
All in all, Episode 4 is a deep dive into Kamala’s roots and it brings so much to the table for the arrival of Episode 5.

Disney+ exclusively streams Ms. Marvel along with all the other Marvel series released or upcoming as announced for the Phase Four of the MCU.
