Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan Addresses Possible MCU Killmonger Return

Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan addresses his possible MCU Killmonger role return in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Back in 2018, Jordan debuted as N’Jadaka, also known as Erik Stevens or Killmonger, who wished to overthrow his cousin T’Challa from his throne as king of Wakanda over their different vision on how to rule the people. Upon Killmonger’s death, he had been highly regarded as ‘one of the best villains’ in the MCU, and despite his death in the first movie, fans still held hopes they would get to see him reprise his role once more in the sequel.

Speaking with ExtraTV, Michael B. Jordan discussed his incoming directorial debut of Creed III, while also addressing his possible return in the MCU. Like many other beloved MCU actors fans want to see back in the MCU, Jordan explains he would love to come back if ever the opportunity arises for his character. You can watch his interview below:

“I don’t know if it’s a possibility. I mean, at one point or another, being able to be in the Marvel Universe was like a dream come true and if there was an opportunity for me to come back, of course I would. I’m not one of those guys like, ‘Oh no, I would never.’ Working with [director Ryan Coogler], what we did on that first project and what Marvel does as a whole is something that, as a fan, as a nerd and geek that I am, I just love to see those movies and those characters come to life.”

Although he did reprise his role as Killmonger in the Disney+ series, What If…? where his existence (even after his death) was possible due to the multiverse, if Killmonger were to return to the MCU, it would probably not be the best idea canonically to the MCU plot. If he were to take the role of king of Wakanda from T’Challa, who is no longer part of the MCU, that would only drag T’Challa’s name through the dirt.

Meanwhile, Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut, Creed 3, starring Jonathan Majors (Kang the Conqueror) and Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) premieres on March 3, 2023.
