Who Really Broke the Multiverse: Loki or Doctor Strange?

This has been a burning question since the fourth phase of the MCU started, who broke open the doors to the multiverse, is it Loki or Doctor Strange? The confusion points to both of them because the series talked about the variants of the people and Doctor Strange literally had an adventure through the different universes.

See, in Loki, it was explained that there is one sacred timeline protected by He Who Remains through the Time Variance Authority who obliterates any reality branching out what is not supposed to exist. However, with Loki’s variant, Sylvie, holding a grudge her whole life for not being able to fully live it without running, she killed He Who Remains and the timelines branched out like crazy.

In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Peter Parker asked Doctor Strange to cast a spell to make everyone forget his name after Mysterio reveals his true identity to the public. This led to the botched spell that opened the doors of the multiverse, allowing the variants of Spider-Man and their villains to arrive on Earth 616.

As reported on Marvel.com, during the world premiere red carpet of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, none other than the big boss of Marvel, Kevin Feige, confirmed who the real culprit is, “The Marvel.com fans know that Loki and Sylvie did something at the end of Loki that sort of allowed all of this to be possible.”

Feige added that the Slyvie’s reckless actions paved way for all of these madness in the multiverse to happen, “He Who Remains is gone, and that allowed a spell to go wrong in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which leads to the entire Multiverse going quite mad in this film.”

It is finally settled, Loki and Sylvie are the culprits in opening the multiverse and that gave way for What If..?, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and other Marvel projects dealing with the multiverse that are yet to come.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theaters. Loki Season 1 is currently streaming on Disney Plus.
