Now that the MCU has expanded its multiverse, part of its bringing together are X-Men mutants with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine set to return in Deadpool 3, and even Marvel’s first family, the Fantastic Four reboot! While the casting has yet to be unveiled, a Marvel Studios executive just teased the upcoming MCU reboot film’s surprising story.
When Deadline recently asked Marvel Studios VP of Production & Development Nate Moore on whether Fantastic Four or X-Men will debut in the MCU first, Moore confirms that Fantastic Four would most likely surprise fans with what they have in store: “Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four. We have Matt Shakman directing, who’s so talented and who did WandaVision for us, and I think people are going to be pretty surprised by what we’re doing.”

Mr. Fantastic had a soft launch in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with John Krasinski playing Reed Richards, only for mixed news on whether or not he maintains the role to come rolling in afterwards. For now though, it seems that Krasinski will not be MCU’s Reed Richards.
As for the reason behind his short exit, there’s a possibility that Krasinski’s Mr. Fantastic is but a variant of the “main” Reed Richards for the MCU.
On that note, seeing as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania director Peyton Reed previously developed Fantastic Four prior to making its way into becoming an MCU reboot, Reed admitted that they ensured Fantastic Four would be referenced in the Ant-Man threequel as a sort of brief teaser for what’s to come for Marvel’s first family.
Fantastic Four was not the only teased implanted in the post-credits scene of Ant-Man 3, but even Loki Season 2 and the upcoming Avengers films, which you can read more about here.
Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot is currently slated for its theatrical release on February 14, 2025.
