Marvel Phases 5 and 6 To Feature More Standalone Films, Kevin Feige Promises

Marvel Phase 4 may have suffered from a great downfall after the loss of the original Avengers in Avengers: Endgame, however, Kevin Feige has a new promising update for Marvel Phases 5 and 6 as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania kickstarts the new era for the MCU.

Recently speaking for an official Marvel Entertainment interview at the premiere of Ant-Man 3 (via CBR.com), the Marvel Studios boss confirms that Marvel Phase 5 and Marvel Phase 6 are bound to feature more standalone films as compared to Marvel Phase 4. Check out his full quote below:

“Phase 4, as I’ve said, was all about experimentation, introduction, and reintroduction,” Feige explained, “And we took our time to have fun and play in genres we hadn’t played in before… Kicking off Phase 5, we’ll continue that. And like the Infinity Safa, there’ll be standalone films within the next two phases.”

Now, while Feige’s statement is admittedly vague in terms of which standalone films will likely be included in the new upcoming Marvel Phases, it does bring a positive outlook that we will be introduced to new characters and superheroes, instead of relying on continuing existing franchises.

However, seeing as Marvel Studios is tightening up security to prevent further massive online leaks, it will be difficult to predict what the next two Marvel Phases films will be. After Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, we’ll be seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which potentially involves losing one of the Guardians in the process. Along with this, The Marvels is also set to arrive later this year, with Captain America: New World Order, Thunderbolts, and the new Blade reboot scheduled for release in 2024.

Marvel Phase 6, on the other hand, includes Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, and Avengers: Secret Wars. Should standalone films introduce new MCU superheroes to add to the multiverse saga, the Avengers films will likely showcase another impressive ensemble in defeating the new Thanos, Kang the Conqueror.
