Is Ms. Marvel and Captain Marvel the Same?

The straight answer is no. Definitely, they are not the same person. To start, Captain Marvel is already in the MCU and Kamala Khan, who later becomes Ms. Marvel, totally idolizes her. They are two different heroines with a similar name but they are, in essence, and in person, two separate beings. It’s not like Moon Knight with multiple personalities in one person.

Captain Marvel is Carol Danvers, a member of the US Air Force who got exposed to the Tesseract’s energy when the Light-Speed Engine was destroyed right in front of her, and there, she got cosmic powers. Moreover, when Yon-Rogg transfused blood in her, she became a human-Kree hybrid which got her memories taken away, making her a weapon of the Kree and being a member of the Starforce.

As for Ms. Marvel, the title is donned by Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American from New Jersey who idolizes Captain Marvel. She is just an average teenager who struggles to fit in everywhere, pens superhero fan fiction, gets electrified when she sees her crush, and daydreams most of the time. She becomes a hero when she found a gauntlet in her attic that gave her powers like her idols.
