To start, Ms. Marvel is already an interesting character because she bears the name of the franchise but beyond the name is the person wielding it, Kamala Khan. Not only would she be introduced in the own series, but she would also continue the promise of representation and diversification of the MCU. With everyone excited about her debut, here is the plot of the show.
What is the Plot of Ms. Marvel?
Given in the title itself, it will be focused on Ms. Marvel, Kamala Khan, and her origins as a superheroine before she gets in with the big girls of the franchise in The Marvels with Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau. The official synopsis of the show is as follows:
"Marvel Studios' "Ms. Marvel" is a new, original series that introduces Kamala Khan, a Muslim American teenager growing up in Jersey City. An avid gamer and a voracious fan-fiction scribe, Kamala is a Super Hero mega fan with an oversized imagination—particularly when it comes to Captain Marvel. Yet Kamala feels like she doesn't fit in at school and sometimes even at home—that is, until she gets super powers like the heroes she's always looked up to. Life gets better with super powers, right?"
From the synopsis, it follows Kamala Khan, a 16-year-old Muslim Pakistani-American from New Jersey who lives her normal life as a teenager scribing superhero fan fiction, struggling to fit in, trying to keep up with the latest trends in school, crushing over some guy, and mostly daydreaming even when in the middle of a class, and everything is about to change as she gets powers from gauntlets she found in the attic.
As she wore the gauntlets, superpowers come in and she gets to be a superhero like her idols. Kamala gets to manipulate energy and use it to her liking such as shooting energy blasts and even creating steps midair. She could punch her way through a situation and create shields when needed. As cool as having powers, the responsibilities kick in, and Kamala is in for a ride she never imagined.
While her origins as a superhero were quite altered because, well, the Inhumans are not arriving in the MCU anytime soon, she perfectly fits the narrative that the current MCU has with the introduction of a new wave of superheroes after losing some in the third phase of the franchise.
Iman Vellani will be portraying Ms. Marvel/ Kamala Khan and will be joined by Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha, and Laura Marsden. Reportedly, they would also be joined by Farhan Akhtar as well.
Ms. Marvel is scheduled for release on June 8, 2022, exclusively on Disney Plus.
