The Beginning of Bill Skarsgård’s Career
For starters, the 31-year-old actor is the son of the prominent actor Stellan Skarsgård to his former wife My Skarsgård. With that said, it’s no surprise that he followed in the footsteps of his father.
At the early age of 10, he played a small role in White Water Fury with his brother, Alexander Skarsgård. Throughout the early 2000s, he did several characters on TV and movies before he made it big in Simple Simon in 2010.
He usually made Swedish and American movies, like Behind Blue Skies, The Crown Jewels, Anna Karenina, and more. He also had a recurring role in Hemlock Grove.
Big things started to come his way as he joined The Divergent Series: Allegiant in 2016. However, in 2017, he made his most famous role so far, Pennywise in It.
He also did Assassination Nation, Villains, Deadpool 2 and It Chapter Two. There’s no year that Bill Skarsgård has no project to do, helping accumulate $5 million net worth, per Celebrity Net Worth.
The Major Change It Made in Bill Skarsgård’s Life
It can’t be denied that Bill Skarsgård’s has perfectly played the role of Pennywise in the It movie series. However, it was too effective that he was already traumatizing his fellow cast members.
In fact, it also affected him that the evil clown was already hunting his dreams—just like what his character did in the movies. So, he admitted doing this film took its toll on him.
“Everything I did took 100% of my energy,” he told The New York Times. “It was by far the most exhausting character I've ever done, physically and mentally."
The kids on the set were also afraid that he had to convince them he was only an actor, acting like Pennywise.
"It was weird because as soon as they said 'cut,' some kids were very shaken up about it,” he also told Dazed. “I tried to be like, 'Oh, I'm just an actor, this is just pretend' and they kind of looked at me very suspiciously.”
Hence, he was afraid that as he did his job right and looked as terrifying as his character, people’s reaction would be like those kids. “It's a strange thing to have to deal with,” he admitted.
