[SPOILER WARNING]

The Doctor Strange sequel follows Benedict Cumberbatch's titular hero entangled with MCU newcomer America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) who apparently has the ability to travel across different universes. Later on, it was revealed that Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) is the one who wants to capture Chavez, to harvest the teenager's power and use it to get to her illusion-made twins, Billy and Tommy.

When Doctor Strange and Wong kept Chavez in Kamar-Taj to protect her from the furious Scarlet Witch, amid the battle, Chavez accidentally transported herself and Doctor Strange to a universe called Earth 838. This universe features interesting characters like Black Bolt, Maria Rambeau's Captain Marvel Variant, Reed Richards, Captain Carter, and X-Men's Professor X. Aside from the characters, variants of Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch also exist in this universe.

Now that Scarlet Witch is left in the original universe (Earth 616), she has to follow Chavez and Strange in another universe. In order to do that, she looked for a spell in the Darkhold that would allow her to travel to another universe and possess her other version, and this spell is called "Dreamwalk."

To give a further definition, those who hold the Darkhold can use the spell to Dreamwalk to any universe and possess a parallel variant of them, as long as it exists. However, using the Darkhold comes with a price, manipulating the user, like what happened to Supreme Strange and Wanda herself.

At one point in the film, even Doctor Strange was forced to Dreamwalk to rescue America Chavez. Doctor Strange used the Darkhold to travel back to Earth 616, possessing Defender Strange's lifeless body.

For now, how this Dreamwalk concept will be used in the future of the MCU remains unknown. But it's definitely a tremendous element that confirmed how the multiverse works, where every possibility exists.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now showing in theaters worldwide.
