It has been a long wait but Demon Slayer Season 3 is finally here. As expected, the hour-long premiere episode of The Swordsmith Village did not disappoint as we immediately catch up with the terrifying Muzan Kibutsuji and meet the remaining Upper Rank Demons. Moreover, viewers got a proper introduction to Gyokko and Hantengo, the Upper Moon demons who will serve as the main villains of the third season.
In Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 1, Muzan Kibutsuji summoned the remaining Upper Rank Demons which include Akaza, Gyokko, Hantengo, Doma, and Kokushibo. However, this is far from a happy meeting as Muzan learned about Daki and Gyutaro being killed by the Demon Slayers.
The Demon King expressed his utter disappointment that an Upper Moon has been killed and that the Upper Ranks have yet to kill the Ubuyashiki family. Muzan also pointed out that no one has any idea where the Blue Spider Lily can be found and lashed out at Gyokko for claiming to have information.
Although he is enraged with his subordinates, Muzan still ordered Gyokko to work with Hantengo to confirm his information and then leaves. That's when the remaining Upper Moons began fighting among themselves before Upper Rank 1 Kokushibo steps in.
The Upper Ranks Meeting is one of the manga chapters that people have been looking forward to because of the sheer number of demons. It also offers a glimpse at how Muzan viciously treats his demons and an insight into how the Upper Moons interact with each other. Personally, it's an awesome first look at Kokushibo who is going to be an important character in the next seasons.
Demon Slayer Season 3 got an hour-long premiere that covered the first four chapters of the manga's Swordsmith Village arc. The second episode is titled Yoriichi Zero Type ("Yoriichi Zeroshiki") and will premiere on Sunday, April 16, 2023.
