Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 8 was the start of a new story arc and it didn't disappoint. The first episode of the Entertainment District arc gave us a proper closure for the Mugen Train arc before teasing what will happen next for Tanjiro Kamado and his fellow Demon Slayers. However, fans can't stop talking about the scene where Akaza is humiliated by a lost character's return!
In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 8, a little boy goes into a library to get a book. It is revealed that he is doing so at night, seemingly unafraid of any danger. In his home, it is revealed that he had been adopted by proud parents who confirm the child has a skin disease that prevents him from being in the sunlight.
It doesn't take long before the boy's identity is revealed. While he is in his room reading, Akaza suddenly enters through a window announcing he has a report. It is then confirmed that the boy is the newly transformed Muzan Kibutsuji.
Muzan asks if Akaza has found the Blue Spider Lily but the demon admits that he has not. He then assures Muzan that he has killed a Hashira as ordered. However, Muzan is not impressed, wounding the demon and stating that there were three other slayers that Akaza was not able to kill.
As a final blow, Muzan declares that he is disappointed in Akaza and orders him to leave. The humiliated demon then takes out his anger on Tanjiro's sword by destroying it and vowing to kill the young Demon Slayer.
Not surprisingly, fans are loving Muzan's return as Child Muzan and his terrifying attack on Akaza. Although everyone agrees that Akaza deserved the punishment, we're also scared of what Muzan is capable of.
Will Akaza and Muzan return next week? Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 Episode 9 is titled Infiltrating the Entertainment District ("Yukaku Sen'nyu") and is the second episode in the Yukaku-hen story arc. The new episode will air on Sunday, December 12, 2021, at 11:15 PM JST.
