The sixth episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 is finally here and fans finally got to revisit the epic fight between the demon Akaza and Rengoku Kyojuro. However, Episode 6 also brought back important questions about how the Upper Rank Three first reacted when he met the Flame Hashira. So why did Akaza try to convince Rengoku to give us his mortality and become a demon like him? Was it just a tactic to distract the enemy or is Muzan Kibutsuji recruiting warriors from the opposing team as a form of revenge?

Why Did Akaza Try To Recruit Rengoku?

In Demon Slayer Season 2 Episode 6, Akaza showed up after the Mugen Train crashed and Rengoku helped Tanjiro heal himself using his Total Concentration Breathing. The demon immediately attacked the wounded Tanjiro but Rengoku deflected the blow.

Akaza is impressed by Rengoku's sword and skill and immediately drops a proposal: Become a demon, grow stronger, and cross over to the supreme realm. However, the Flame Hashira doesn't bat an eyelash and turns down the offer. That's when the Upper Rank Three decides to kill him.

As they fight, Akaza continues to speak about how Rengoku would make an excellent demon. He also points out that he has made the same proposal to other Demon Slayers but they all refused. So why does Akaza keep offering the same thing to these warriors?

As Akaza points out at one point, he thinks killing someone with great potential is a waste of talent. This could explain his motivation to try and persuade Hashiras into becoming demons who can live forever and grow even stronger. On the other hand, there's another possible reason why he is attempting recruitment.

Later in the manga, it is revealed that Muzan Kibutsuji has managed to turn some Hashiras into demons. The shocking thing about it is, they now work for him and are all trying to get rid of the Demon Slayer Corps.

For now, we won't tell you if Akaza eventually convinced Rengoku or another Hashira to accept the proposal and work for Muzan Kibutsuji. In the meantime, the next episode of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 2 will air on November 28, 2021.
