Back in October, Sasuke fans were treated to the start of a manga adaptation of the Sasuke Retsuden light novel. Now, Sasuke and Sakura fans were delighted by the latest Boruto episode, which is part of the anime’s Sasuke Retsuden adaptation.
Beginning with Boruto Episode 282, the anime covered the Sasuke Retsuden story as its own arc.
Essentially, you can think of this arc as an anime adaptation of the Sasuke light novel.
While the first three episodes in this Sasuke Retsuden anime already made fans happy, Sasuke and Sakura shippers went into overdrive on social media following Episode 285’s release.
Boruto’s Sasuke Retsuden Arc
Although the Naruto manga ended in 2014, and the Shippuden anime ended in 2017, these conclusions did not end the franchise completely.
In the past years, the story continued with Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
Several light novels were also released, which had stories that are set in various timelines.
One of these novels is Sasuke Retsuden: The Uchiha Descendants and the Heavenly Stardust. It follows Sasuke as he looks for a way to cure Naruto, who is sick with a chakra-blocking illness.
Sasuke’s quest leads him to infiltrate the Anatomy Research Institute. Along the way, he is helped by Kakashi and Sakura.
While the light novel and manga versions are not exactly clear on when the story takes place in the timeline, the arc in the anime takes place between the Labyrinth Game and Code arcs.

Sasuke x Sakura Shippers Rejoice
Even during the early Naruto days, Sasuke x Sakura shippers have always been the most active shipping community for the franchise.
Despite the two ending up together and even having a kid, we haven’t really seen much romance from them.
But in the latest episode, Sasuke and Sakura finally get some romantic scenes, causing the hearts of shippers all over the world to swoon.
Many in particular are loving the lake scene as well as the part where Sasuke caught Sakura.
This part of the episode in both the anime and the manga is quite short, though it was enough to make Sasuke a trending Twitter topic following the latest Boruto episode’s release.
