Aniplex Online Fest 2023 Teases Big Anime Announcements This Weekend

Anime fans can expect a lot of big reveals and announcements at the Aniplex Online Fest 2023, which is finally happening this weekend.

Announced last month, this is the fourth event of its kind as the Online Fest started in 2020 at the height of the pandemic. Since then, fans have been treated to a lot of exciting showcases every September.

This year’s event promises to be big as there are lots of highly anticipated anime that will be highlighted, including new shows and the return of popular 2000s to 2010s classics.

Solo Leveling Might Get a Release Date Reveal

Probably the most anticipated show among many anime fans is Solo Leveling, the upcoming adaptation of the highly popular manhwa of the same name.

Solo Leveling is technically a Korean manhwa, though it appealed to many anime and manga fans, enough that clamor for an anime adaptation has been strong for years.

Finally, the Solo Leveling anime was announced back in 2022 at Anime Expo. Since then, there have been new reveals and trailers for it.

But at Aniplex Online Fest 2023, fans can expect more updates; possibly even a new trailer reveal is on the cards. While it had a couple of trailers already, they only feature short snippets of the series.

We might also get an official release date for the show. Currently, it’s only confirmed to be released in Q1 2024. So, fingers crossed that Aniplex announces a January release date for it.

Madoka Magica Can Expect Info on -Walpurgisnacht Rising- Anime Movie

Next, we have Madoka Magica -Walpurgisnacht Rising-, the highly anticipated next film in the popular magical girl franchise.

This anime film was announced way back in 2021 during the series’ 10th anniversary event. But since then, there have been little to no updates about it. Now, fans can expect more details on the movie.

For those who missed the initial reveal, -Walpurgisnacht Rising- is a sequel to Madoka Magica Rebellion, a film that was divisive among series fans. So, it’ll be interesting to see how they’ll follow it up.

There’s no word yet on what to expect for Madoka Magica at this year’s Aniplex Online Fest, though fans are hoping to see a new trailer, and maybe an official release date announcement there.

New Blue Exorcist Anime Trailer and Info Anticipated by Fans

Another anime that will return is Blue Exorcist. While the manga that it’s based on is still going strong in Jump Square, the anime adaptation has not gotten a new season since 2017’s Kyoto Saga.

Finally, Blue Exorcist was confirmed to return in December 2022 with a new anime project. Not a lot of details were revealed at the time, leading to lots of speculation about what it will be.

Right now, there’s no word yet on whether it will be a third season or a remake. There’s also no word on whether the anime’s previous cast and staff will return.

Given that the series is part of the Aniplex Online Fest 2023 lineup, fans may be in for a new trailer, and possibly a confirmation of whether it’s a remake or a sequel. Maybe a release date reveal is also on the cards.

Black Butler Is Another Long-Awaited Returning Anime

What is confirmed to be a proper sequel is the new Black Butler season, which was announced two months ago.

Instead of A-1 Pictures though, popular studio CloverWorks is taking the reins for Black Butler Season 3. This makes sense given that CloverWorks started as a studio within A-1 Pictures.

Alongside its announcement, a trailer for the new season was shared, which confirmed that the show’s voice cast is returning. But not a lot of details have been shared yet.

Fans can expect more Black Butler info at Aniplex Online Fest 2023. While there’s no word yet, we might get a release date or release window reveal, and possibly a new trailer.

These four shows are arguably the most anticipated of the event. After all, three of them are beloved anime that will make a return, while the other one is a highly anticipated manhwa adaptation.

On top of showcases, anime fans are in for more treats as the event will feature a lot of well-known guests, many of whom are voice cast members of the shows in the lineup.

There will also be musical performances from groups such as KANA-BOON and Philosophy no Dance.

Aniplex Online Fest 2023 is happening in Japan on September 10, 2023, as a hybrid event. This means there will be an in-person and an online event.

The in-person event will happen on September 10 at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo. Meanwhile, the online event will be streamed at the following dates and times:
