Star Wars: The Acolyte Episode 5, Night, surprised viewers with brutal lightsaber combat that killed several major characters.

However, aside from this stunning battle, it also features several Easter eggs and references to the greater Star Wars canon.

Warning: Major spoilers ahead.

The Acolyte Episode 5 had a big reveal with the identity of Mae’s Sith Master.

True to the fan theories, Qimir is behind the mysterious Sith helmet. He’s the lethal Dark Side user who kills Jedi Master Kelnacca and single-handedly takes on a group of Jedi.

So, from Jedi Master Sol’s Jedi statement to Qimir’s cortosis, here are the five things fans may have missed in The Acolyte Episode 5.

“You are No Jedi”

As Sol finally faces the Sith, he concedes he’s using a Jedi weapon.

However, he later states, "You are no Jedi," which the villain later confirms and reveals he’s a Sith.

Fans may have remembered that Ahsoka Tano says the same thing in Star Wars Rebels.

After deciding to leave the Jedi Order behind in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, her “I am no Jedi” statement becomes her most classic and iconic line.

Thankfully, she doesn’t end up joining the dark side and continues to be a Jedi, as seen in the live-action Star Wars: Ahsoka.

The Sith's Cortosis

The Acolyte Episode 5 debuts cortosis in live-action after its first canon appearance in John Jackson Miller's 2014 novel A New Dawn.

Aside from its ability to shut down lightsabers temporarily, it looks like it possesses a new power.

When Sol asks the Sith to remove his helmet, the latter refuses and reveals the Jedi Master will be able to read his mind if he does so.

This seems to hint that cortosis can block the Jedi’s mind-reading abilities through the Force.

This also is a nod to Magneto’s helmet in the X-Men Marvel Comics. The Master of Magnetism uses his helmet to shield his thoughts from psychics like Charles Xavier.

The Sith’s Shoto Lightsaber

Sol and his Padawan Jecki Lon have joined forces to take on the Sith Master, who turns out to be Qimir.

They have combined their powers as master and apprentice.

However, as Jecki battles the villain alone, he unleashes his second shoto lightsaber hidden within his original hilt.

After pulling it down, he stabs Jecki three times rapidly while they are locked in a battle, resulting in the Jedi Padawan’s death.

Though the Sith’s weapon is similar to Jedi Knight Cal Kestis’ double-bladed lightsaber with its ability to be split in half, it seems to have a hidden blade that reduces length when unsheathed.

It seems to be powered by a single Kyber crystal instead of two. Ahsoka and the Tenth Brother also use this twin-bladed technique.

“She Was a Child”

Reeling from Jecki’s demise, Sol can’t help but tell Qimir that “she was just a child.”

Without an ounce of remorse, Qimir blames Sol for bringing Jecki on a dangerous mission that results in her death.

This gives a nod to the indictment of the Jedi Order’s recruitment and training of children.

This move has been criticised in the Star Wars universe, and it only gets worse during The Clone Wars when Padawans become child soldiers to help command clone troopers in battle.

A Force Dyad Teaser

When Qimir finds Osha unconscious and wounded, he helps her heal using his Force power, the first time it’s been seen outside the sequel trilogy.

But while doing so, Kylo Ren’s theme from the sequels starts playing in the background.

This may be a subtle tease that Osha and Mae will eventually be revealed as a powerful Force dyad, a unique Force bond that makes them one in the Force, like Kylo Ren and Rey Skywalker.

The Acolyte has continuously featured thrilling Easter eggs and references to the greater Star Wars canon, which has made fans more excited to see new episodes.
