The recently-aired episode 5 of The Acolyte seemingly saw the death of two main characters to the surprise of many fans.
Since the premiere, the series has unapologetically killed off some of the main characters starting with the very first scene itself which saw the death of Jedi Master Indara, who was prominently featured in the trailers.
Given that the new episode is more focused on lightsaber action, fans are wondering whether another main character will bite the dust and, as it turns out, there were two of them.

The Acolyte Fans React to Episode 5's Shocking Deaths
The action-heavy episode 5 of The Acolyte saw the death of two main characters: Jecki Lon and Yord Fandar. Both were killed off by the mysterious Sith Lord.
Jecki met her demise when the Sith Lord stabbed her in the chest with a lightsaber. It was then revealed that Qimir is the identity behind the mysterious Sith Lord as he unmasked himself.
After Qimir did his monologue and explained his motivations to Sol, Yord showed up to confront him and a lightsaber battle ensued between them. Unfortunately, it ended with Qimir snapping his neck.
Their demise came as a huge shock for many fans as they didn't expect that they would be facing their deaths this early and they have become instant fan-favorites throughout the first half of the season.

It is hard to tell right now whether Jecki and Yord's deaths are permanent since we witnessed their demise on-screen and there are no indications that there is a logical way for them to be alive from the way they were killed.
We've seen in Star Wars before that dead characters might still be resurrected in some capacity, but that doesn't seem to be possible in this case anytime soon.
