The Acolyte star Dafne Keen recently confirmed that her character Jecki Lon has romantic feelings for another main character in the series.
Jecki Lon has become one of the standout characters for some fans due to her great skills and maturity as a padawan that showed promise for a potential Jedi Knight.
Fans are eager to learn more about the character in the upcoming episodes as we're seeing hints that they are setting her up on an interesting path that could affect the main storyline.
Dafne Keen Reveals Jecki Lon Has Feelings for Amandla Stenberg's Osha
In an interview, Keen opened up about the potential romantic storyline in The Acolyte and revealed that Jecki Lon has feelings for Osha.
"I think, for Jecki, it’s very confusing because as a Jedi you’re not allowed to have feelings for other people. I think she does. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that, but I think she does," she said.
The actress went on to explain that she played her character in the fourth episode with the mindset that she has a crush on Osha.
"Jeckie’s such a young character. She’s an 18-year-old, but she’s not a normal 18-year-old. Like she hasn’t gone to school and she hasn’t had interactions with other like people," The Acolyte star said.
"So it’s her first real experience, I think, of those kinds of feelings and almost the guilt and confusion that comes with it."
Keen added, "She’s such a controlled, like self-judging, like perfect student, that I think it’s also almost self-hatred that comes from having those feelings and the kind of constriction, but also the inevitable magnetism that she has towards Osha because of that."
While Jecki may have a crush on Osha, Keen noted that there is still "kind of almost competition" between them since they are both Sol's padawans.
It is interesting to see how it all develops since the potential romance between Jecki and Osha is still at the subtext level, and it might take a while before it blossoms into a romance if the writers decide to level up their friendship.
Exploring a romantic relationship is not new in the Star Wars franchise as we've seen in past films and TV shows that two main characters could spark a romance and it should not be surprising if it happens to Jecki and Osha in the future as long as the development feels natural.
