Will There Be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4?
The team has faced a lot of various missions together but in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, this one tested them through and through as the life of one of the is on the line.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 brings a new adventure to the whole team with new members joining in and new foes to fight.
However, while some of them are sure to remain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is already a word from the director of the movie that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 is not happening under his helm.
That being said, there remains a possibility for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 but it is sure that James Gunn would not be the director anymore.
Speaking with Deadline's Hero Nation podcast, James Gunn explicitly said, "This is the end for us, the last time people will see this team of Guardians. It’s big; it’s so, so big and dark, and different from what people might be expecting it to be."

During the 2022 Comic-Con, Gunn revealed to the audience, “Some stories have an end, doesn’t mean everyone dies.”
Gunn had an impromptu question-and-answer portion with the fans on Instagram and, as reported by ScreenRant, Gunn revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is "probably be the last with the current team."
Still, in the same line of thoughts, Gunn put out a caveat, "you never know," as if hinting that there is a possibility for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 to happen, just not under his watch.
James Gunn has recently been instated as the co-CEO of DC Studios following the merger of Warner Bros. Discovery.
James Gunn already made the huge jump from the MCU to DC Universe when he directed Suicide Squad and Peacemaker. Still, he made sure to return for the closure of the team in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
All in all, there remains a possibility that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 4 may still happen but it is definitely not the same team that everyone used to watch in the first three films.
Some of the characters are still in the MCU and they could still return for future movies life Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars which is the culmination of the Multiverse Saga of the MCU.
