Will Poulter Wanted to Work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Despite Not Knowing Adam Warlock

There is little doubt that every actor in Hollywood wants to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For Will Poulter, who is a fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy, it didn't matter which role he got as long as he was part of the franchise. Interestingly, the Maze Runner star admitted he didn't know which part he was auditioning for and wasn't familiar with Adam Warlock before he was cast in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!

People were surprised when Will Poulter was announced to play Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 considering there were other actors who were rumored to be up for the role. However, Poulter told The Playlist that he had auditioned for the film a long time ago.

“I first auditioned in June of last year, and that was the first time I auditioned, and then I kind of got the role in September, I think,” he said. “And then started shooting in December.”

Poulter then revealed that he wasn't aware which role he was trying out for but eventually found out. “I didn’t know what character, initially, I was auditioning for. I kind of knew sort of closer to the time [of casting] who I was reading for,” he said.

Interestingly, Poulter revealed that he didn't know a lot about the character but he was ready to be a part of the Guardians because he was a huge fan.

“Although I wasn’t familiar with Adam Warlock beforehand, I was very familiar with Guardians of the Galaxy, and it was kind of my favorite ‘planet’ within the Marvel Universe, if you like. I’m just a huge fan of the tone and the creativity and James Gunn’s work and so many of the actors, you know, that I now get to call colleagues, which I’m very grateful for. So yeah, to have any kind of part in that world is very, very cool for me,” he said.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 premieres on May 5, 2023.
