Jack Russell debuts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Gael GarcĂa Bernal playing the character in Werewolf by Night where he will encounter other hunters to hunt an evil lurking within the Bloodstone Curios, the manor of the late Ulysses Bloodstone.

First appearing in Marvel Spotlight #2 in 1972, Jack Russell arrives as Werewolf by Night created by Roy Thomas and the name came from the legendary Stan Lee.

In the comics, Jack Russell is the first version of Werewolf by Night who came from a long line of lycanthropes, humans who shapeshift into a werewolf, who traces back to Grigori Russoff in 1795, a known nemesis of Dracula. Unknown to him, Jack Russell's last name is actually Russoff.

A descendant of Grigori, Gregor, got ahold of the Darkhold, scrolls that contains evil and he bound it to make a book, where he found out about the origins of the werewolf and everything about their kind.

Jack Russell has inherited the abilities of his ancestors, lycanthropy, where he transforms into a werewolf when there is a full moon. In his werewolf form, he has no level of control and he could be as feral and as destructive as he could be.

Given that his powers are triggered by the shifting of the moon, he usually comes across Moon Knight in the comics, either on the same side or opposite each other.

In the Marvel Special, Werewolf by Night, Jack Russell surprises every hunter in the room at the manor of the late Ulysses Bloodstone as his kill record was revealed to be over a hundred when he doesn't look like he could take a life.

Fitting in with the others, it was revealed that he joined to free Man-Thing, his friend whom the others call as the monster, and they battle it out, every hunter for themselves, to find and slay the monster who has the Bloodstone attached to its back.

Truthfully, Jack didn't even want the Bloodstone, he just wants to free Ted, the Man-Thing. Surprisingly, when he picked up the Bloodstone, it repelled him and revealed that he, too, is a monster, and Verussa forces Jack to reveal his true form, a werewolf.

Werewolf by Night is now streaming on Disney Plus.
