Netflix is releasing a new fantasy thriller similar to Grimm, The Vampire Diaries, or Orphan Black. If you're a fan of any of these shows, you'll likely enjoy The Imperfects too.

This is a new series that highlights the lives of three young adults as they look for the scientist responsible of conducting an experimental gene therapy on them. As a result, they develop new "gifts."

Here's what we know about The Imperfects so far:

After months of waiting, the show has already been confirmed for a release this month. To be more specific, The Imperfects is set for a global Netflix release on September 8, 2022.

The official logline of The Imperfects reads:

"The drama revolves around three twenty-somethings who, following an experimental gene therapy, are turned into monsters who band together to hunt down the scientist responsible and force him to make them human again. Dr. Sydney Burke, a brilliant scientist looking to fix her past mistakes, both professional and ethical, allies with Abbi, Juan and Tilda to track down the scientist responsible for their grim fates. Meanwhile, Dr. Alex Sarkov, a former child prodigy, refuses to let anyone or anything interfere with his goal of rewriting the human genome and ushering in the next stage of human evolution."

After the experiment, the three protagonists have the ability to turn into fictional monsters: Juan (played by Iñaki Godo) is now a Chupacabra, Abbi (played by Rhianna Jagpal) is a succubus, and Tilda (played by Morgan Taylor Campbell) is a banshee. What's interesting to see in the show is that their monster counterparts are closely related with their individual careers: Juan is an ambitious fantasy graphic novelist, Abbi works as a geneticist, and Tilda performs as the singer of her band, Itchy Nipples.

In their pursuit of Dr. Sarkov (played by Rhys Nicholson), they come across other monsters, concerned civilians, and government agencies that wish to entrap them. The show will detail what the trio go through and whether they are able to return to normal in the end.

The Imperfects is created by Dennis Heaton and Shelley Eriksen, who also created The Order. One of the confirmed directors is Mathias Herndl, who also worked on The Order, Genius, Warrior Nun, and many others.
