A new Netflix series is arriving with Wednesday and the actress who first played the role in the Addams family, Christina Ricci, has nothing but praise for her successor, Jenna Ortega who is about to debut as the titular character in the new show.
Jenna Ortega will spearhead the new Netflix series, Wednesday, which will be the first ever series of director Tim Burton. The previous actress who played the same character in the 90’s movie, Addams Family, Christina Ricci is amazed on how her successor plays the role with a fresh and modern take.
Ricci is confirmed to appear in an undisclosed role in the series and in an interview with Variety, Ricci praises how Ortega gives a fresh look on Wednesday, "It's super fun. I loved working with Tim. I worked with Gwendolyn Christie, it was amazing. And Jenna is incredible."
Ricci added, "I saw some of the wardrobe photos before I went so I knew and I was like, it's such a great modern take on Wednesday. It's so true tonally to the heart and soul of, but it's then it's incredibly modern and it's great."
Wednesday will follow the story of the titular character as she enters the Nevermore Academy where she would try to master her psychic abilities, investigate a series of killings terrorizing the local town, and solve the mysteries that her parents faced half a century ago. She’ll be doing all these while making her new relationships in school work.

Tim Burton is finally entering the world of series after being a well-known movie director and he would start with one that fits the genre he works the best with. Coming to Netflix would be his first ever series, Wednesday, a spinoff of the classic The Addams Family.
Wednesday Addams will be played by Jenna Ortega with Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Emma Myers as Enid Sinclair, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene Otinger, Georgie Farmer as Ajax Petropolus, Naomi Ogawa as Yoko Tanawa, and Percy Hynes White as Xavier Thorpe.
Wednesday will be arriving on Netflix this Fall 2022.
