Sharpen your guillotines – creepy and kooky Wednesday is here.
Wednesday is part of the legendary Addams Family, created by the cartoonist Charles Addams. The Addams first appeared in The New Yorker as a single-panel cartoon portraying humorous scenes. The comic had a total of 150 panels and appeared in the publication for over 50 years.
The Addams have had many adventures since then, starring in award-winning musicals, animated shows, and various films. The most famous iterations of the comic may be two feature films, The Addams Family, released in 1991, and the sequel The Addams Family Values, released in 1993.
The latest films about the family were the 2019 animated film The Addams Family and the sequel released by 2021. This year, we are focusing on the younger lady of the family, Wednesday, as Netflix teams up with the genius of Tim Burton to create an eight-part series about teen life and how a true Addams will rise above the rest – or kill everyone trying.

Wednesday Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Netflix Series?
We will be seeing familiar faces as part of the cast of Wednesday.
Jenny Ortega is Wednesday Addams
Jenna Ortega, who is perhaps best known for being part of other Netflix shows, such as playing Ellie in the second season of You and Katie Torres in Yes Day, will play the role of Willa, nicknamed Wednesday, Addams. The 19-year-old Ortega first announced she got the part back in May 2021 when she posted a photo of her holding a script for the series with the caption, "New chapter. Hope I can do Wednesday Addams justice. *snaps twice*."
The latest Netflix event showed us Ortega in full Wednesday Addams regalia, which made us even more excited to see how she will portray the character.
On August, Ortega posted a new photo of her as Wednesday Addams on her Instagram page with the caption, "Good Mourning."
Some of the key creative team members described Wednesday's character and how Jenna Ortega is the perfect Wednesday Addams.
The Addams Family
Geeked Week 2022 also revealed the other actors playing the iconic Addams family in Wednesday. We learned who will play Wednesday's parents, with Catherine Zeta-Jones set to play the hauntingly beautiful Morticia Addams and Luiz Guzman playing the romantic Gomez Addams.
We will also see Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, and George Burcea as the family's butler, Lurch.
We see the family for the first time through an image posted on Wednesday Addam's Instagram profile.
Other Cast Members
Aside from members of the Addams family, we also meet the other actors who will be a part of the series. Some of the other students in the school Wednesday attends are Emma Myers will play the teenage werewolf Enid Sinclair, and Joy Sunday will be Bianca Barclay, the siren.
Hunter Doohan will play Tyler Galpin, the human son of the town Sherriff who can't wait to leave town, while Percy Hynes White will play the wealthy Xavier Thorpe.
Wednesday will also be crossing paths with older characters. This includes Gwendoline Christie as Principal Larissa Weems and Thora Birch as Miss Tamara Novak. The adult cast also adds Jamie McShane as Sheriff Donavan Galpin and Riki Lindhome as Dr. Valerie Kinbott.
The original Wednesday Addams, Christina Ricci, will also join the show in a yet undisclosed role. We also know Georgia Farmer will be part of the series, along with Naomi Ogawa as Yoko Tanka, and Moosa Mostaga as Euge Otinger.
Wednesday Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?
Netflix won the right to exclusively distribute Wednesday after engaging in a fierce bidding war with other interested companies. Tim Burton was brought on to direct the series, and there couldn't have been a better show for his directorial debut.
Al Gough and Miles Millar created the series with Jon Glickman, Andrew Mittman, Gail Berman, Kayla Alpert, Steve Stark and Burton as the producers.
Wednesday Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Spin-off Series?
Wednesday is a spin-off of the highly successful Addams Family franchise. This time, the show will be focusing on everyone's favorite morbid and gothic sister, Wednesday.
The series renamed her Willa, with Wednesday being only a nickname. She is a bit older than the Wednesday we know from earlier movies, and the series will focus on her school life and how she deals with being a teenager in a school filled with other quirky teenagers.
We will follow Wednesday go through a rebellious streak before being placed in her parents' alma mater, where she continues to attempt escape. Will this new school be just like everywhere else, or will she find that maybe this time, she might want to stay?
Netflix released a logline for the series:
Wednesday Addams misadventures as a student at Nevermore Academy: a very unique boarding school snuggled in deepest New England.
Wednesday's attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.
Eventually, Netflix released a more in-depth synopsis for Wednesday:
After getting kicked out of eight schools in Five years, Willa, aka Wednesday Adams, is beginning a new chapter of her life at the academy, the two-century-old boarding school attended by her parents. However, Willa wants nothing to do with their alma mater and she's already planning her escape. But this academy is like no other school she's ever attended. It's a school of outcasts with four main cliques, the Fangs (vampires) the Furs (werewolves), the Scales (sirens) and the Stoners. It is also a piece of the mystery that holds dark secrets about her family's past.

In the official trailer, we also got to see our first look at everyone’s favorite uncle, Uncle Fester.
Netflix released the teaser for Wednesday during the first day of Geeked Week 2022.
The teaser reveals Jenna Ortega as Wednesday, who first appears tying her hair in her signature braids. Wednesday then emerges from the shadows and fixes her collar, as the Thing climbs on her shoulder before they snap their fingers twice, Addams family style.

An Ominous Message for the Emmy Nominees
Wednesday Addams took part in the festivities of the Emmy's in her own way. She started by posting a message for all the nominees:
Wednesday then proceeded to comment on the shows, with each threat - er- congratulations, being more entertaining than the last.
Welcome to Nevermore
The faculty and students of Nevermore welcome all outcasts to this school year (and yes, you really can apply!)
Where to Watch Wednesday: Where Can I Watch the Horror Series?
You can watch Wednesday on Netflix once the series is released sometime in 2022. While waiting for the release of Wednesday, there are other movies and shows you can watch on Netflix like The Umbrella Academy, Bridgerton, The Witcher, and Stranger Things.
Wednesday has already gained somewhat of a cult following even before its released, with most of its audiences coming from kids and adults who enjoyed the earlier versions of The Addams Family. It has the capacity to be one of the biggest Netflix Originals yet, and we won't be surprised if it is renewed for a second season. Creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky, we can't wait to watch Wednesday and the return of the Addams family.
