The showrunner of Warrior Nun, Simon Davis Barry, revealed to ScreenRant, "It was on the page in season one before we cast the show that Beatrice and Ava were going to be... I guess you could say the undercurrent of more than just friendship was going to be there. We definitely had that in mind."

Simon Davis Barry added where #Avatrice will be heading should there be Warrior Nun Season 3, "We tried to sort of create the shape of a season where that journey of their relationship felt that we earned the ending. We earned the final few beats in episode 8."
