WandaVision fans are tuning in every Friday for two major reasons: the exciting yet sometimes confusing storyline and all the awesome Easter Eggs. Not surprisingly, Episode 6 had another awesome reference, and this time, it was a subtle nod to Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers from WandaVision Season 1 Episode 6. Proceed with caution.
Taylor-Johnson played the Marvel Cinematic Universe version of Pietro Maximoff in Avengers: The Age of Ultron. However, WandaVision somehow "recast" Quicksilver with Evan Peters, who played the character in the X-Men movies.
Although Taylor-Johnson isn't in WandaVision, the latest episode made a small yet awesome nod to the actor. In All-New Halloween Spooktacular!, the family goes out trick or treating and while the twins are away, Wanda asks Pietro why he looks different.
Interestingly, Pietro deflects the question by suggesting the change in appearance was Wanda's doing. Just then, Billy and Tommy return to them saying they are ready to go to the next house. When Pietro offers to "maximize" the twins' "candy acquisition," Tommy says, "Kick-ass." When they leave, Wanda repeats the term.
It might seem like just another statement but it's still a well-placed one. "Kick-Ass" is the name of the other comic book hero that Taylor-Johnson played in the comics' film adaptation. The movie also happens to star Peters, who portrayed Todd Haynes before he becomes Ass-Kicker.
But what are the chances we'll see Taylor-Johnson's version of Quicksilver in WandaVision? For now, it is unclear if the original Pietro will show up in the MCU series. Nevertheless, fans are holding on to hope that Wanda will be reunited with her twin somehow.
The latest episode ofWandaVision is now available for streaming on Disney+.
