Wanda Questions Reality in WandaVision's New Era Trailer

The New Year's day promo for Disney+'s upcoming WandaVision series shows the beginning of the visionary new era for the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The TV spot was uploaded on Marvel's YouTube channel on January 4, 2021. The trailer sheds a little more light on what fans expect from the series, although still keeping it a mystery that leaves fans wanting more.

The series with weekly episodes until March 12, 2021, had its trailers slowly reveal its premise and possible plot. The New Era trailer focuses on Wanda also known as Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany) in their decade-hopping television tropes, while seemingly living a perfect suburban life. The trailer opens with Wanda saying, "We are an unusual couple. We don't have a song or wedding rings." Vision replies, "Or we could rather do that." The two immediately had wedding rings on their fingers. Vision says, ‘I do, do you?" To which Wanda replied with, "I do." The two seals their ‘vows' with a kiss.

The trailer proceeds to show the newly-wed couple in their wedding attires and their perfect suburban life. However, not everything is as it seems. The two begin to experience reality-warping moments. In one moment, during a scene where everything is in black and white, Wanda picks up a helicopter that the same monochromatic color as the surrounding black and white colors, which confuses her.

The trailer also provided a shot of a helicopter flying through the sky, seemingly engulfed in Scarlet Witch's red energy. For most of the trailer, Wanda and Vision continue to see anomalies in their surroundings that leave a confused look on their faces. Near the end of the promo, a muffled voice was heard calling out to Wanda. The voice can be heard, calling out Wanda's name multiple times, "Wanda, can you hear me?"

WandaVision is a part of the MCU and ultimately canon. The timeline for the series is set after the events of Avengers: Endgame. This would mean that Vision has died at the hands of Thanos, which raises the question of why he's alive in the series. There are multiple theories on how could this be possible but it's more likely tied to the reality-warping interactions and occurrences happening with WandaVision.

The WandaVision synopsis is as follows:

Marvel Studios' WandaVision blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

WandaVision will air on Disney+ with nine episodes and will be released on January 15, 2021.
