The countdown for WandaVision has begun! WandaVision is releasing Friday at 3:00 AM in the US EST time! Disney Plus and fans have quite a few questions about the series. A lot of folks have been asking: when exactly does the show take place in the current Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline? Is it part of the MCU canon, and why is it in black and white?

It's long been established that WandaVision which stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany will have a massive effect on the entire MCU landscape post-Avengers Endgame. You read that right. Don't be fooled by the show's tricky timeline as it will undoubtedly take place right after Tony Stark saves the world.

Now, you may be asking, why is the show set in different decades? The obvious explanation for it was already teased in the show's trailers. After Endgame, Wanda is left all alone following the demise of her brother Pietro from years prior and the love of her life Vision being taken away from her. This forces Wanda to create her own perfect reality, presumably with the help of Agatha Harkness who will show her the ropes.

Of course, the seemingly perfect life Wanda and Vision are living will ultimately come to an end and it's safe to assume that it will all lead to Maximoff being brought back to the current timeline after she messes with reality so much that it opens up the portal to the multiverse.

It's also worth noting that the show will in fact be responsible for the event that will be taking place in Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which would also see an appearance from Olsen. There's clearly no doubt that WandaVision will in fact take place in the current MCU timeline (2023) setting up all of the mayhem that the Earth's Mightiest Heroes might have to deal with in the future.

WandaVision will begin streaming on January 15, 2021, only on Disney+. It will be nine episodes long with a double episode premiere. The series will conclude on March 5, and followed by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier releasing on March 19.
