Will WandaVision Be on DVD or Blu-Ray, and When Will It Be Released?

Marvel's first big Disney+ release is WandaVision. The series will be released on Disney+ on January 15, 2021. This is the first time we get to see characters from the MCU in action on a Marvel property since Spider-Man: Far From Home in July 2019.

The series will revolve around the titled characters, Wanda Maximoff (Scarlett Witch) and Vision. Here's the synopsis for the show:

"Marvel Studios' WandaVision blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany)—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems."

Personally, I'm ecstatic to finally see Vision and the Scarlet Witch return to an MCU property. Vision was a major character introduced in Avengers: Age of Ultron, but I feel like he didn't get the screen time he deserved. In-fact he only has 23 minutes of total screen time, which is the lowest of all Marvel characters. Vision also appeared in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers: Endgame.

The Scarlet Witch also has some of the lowest screen time of any other Marvel character. Raking in only 31 minutes of screen time. That's been a major blow to fans of the once-popular comic book Avenger.

Many fans are excited in anticipation to finally get the story these two characters deserve. Obviously, there was a lot going on in the MCU around the time of Civil War and Endgame so these characters couldn't get their story developed like other heroes; such as, Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor.

While many of us are excited to watch the show as it comes out on Disney+, not everyone will be able to watch the show on the internet or be able to afford a subscription. So that begs the question... will WandaVision be released on DVD or Blu-Ray? Sadly, as of today, there are no plans for the show to be released anywhere other than Disney+. In-fact, other shows such as The Mandalorian, which have major demand, haven't been announced yet for DVD.

What does this mean for WandaVision and other Disney+ shows? It seems like Disney wants people to sign up for Disney+, rather than purchase DVD or Blu-Rays of the original content they are producing. In the past, Disney has been keen on releasing their shows on DVD, so not all hope is lost. It is possible that after a few years, when the series is older, it will be released on DVD.
