It's almost time for the first part of Tokyo Revengers 2 to hit theaters and a new video hypes up the highly anticipated premiere. Interestingly, the latest video puts the focus on Takemichi Hanagaki and the Mizo Middle Five. However, the group appears to be missing one member as Takuya Yamamoto is nowhere in sight.
Tokyo Revengers 2 Video Catches Up With Mizo Middle Five ... Or Four
The new teaser for Tokyo Revengers 2 reunites Takemichi Hanagaki with his middle school friends Atsushi "Akkun" Sendo, Kazushi Yamagishi, and Makoto Suzuki. Interestingly, the Mizo Middle Five appear to be going about business as usual without any mention of their missing fifth member Takuya Yamamoto.
Tokyo Revengers 2: What Happened to Takuya Yamamoto?
In both the manga and the anime, Takuya Yamamoto is a minor character who mostly appears in the past timeline and is known for being a terrible fighter. He also shows up in the present as a member of Tokyo Manji Gang although his future is vague as Takemichi continues timetravelling.
Takuya is expected to continue playing a minor role in the anime but the live-action films may have faced some trouble with the actor who plays him. Back in August 2021, Shunji Tagawa announced his retirement from acting. This meant Tagawa will no longer be able to reprise his role as Takuya in Tokyo Revengers 2.
It is unclear why the movie adaptations decided against recasting Takuya Yamamoto in the sequels. Hopefully, the character's fate will be addressed later this month.
Tokyo Revengers: Bloody Halloween - Fate ("Chi no Halloween - Unmei") will hit theaters on April 21, 2023, during Japan's Golden Week. Tokyo Revengers: Bloody Halloween - Decisive Battle ("Chi no Halloween - Kessen") is scheduled for release on June 30, 2023. The anime's third season has recently been confirmed to adapt the manga's Tenjiku arc. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
