Tobey Maguire admitted that despite his excitement to reprise his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the actor remembered having doubts upon his return. Maguire had to essentially fulfill his role in becoming a part of the evidence of the multiverse’s existence within the MCU alongside Andrew Garfield, whilst starring with MCU’s Spider-Man Tom Holland.
Recently speaking with Marvel, Maguire shared an interesting experience he had upon waiting for the studios to call for his reprisal of the character. Although worried about the effects of his return, the actor shared:
“When they called initially, I was like finally! I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this. Not without nerves, you know,” Maguire explained, “‘What will this look like and what will the experience be?’ But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like, “Yes!” It’s fun and exciting.”

The actor continued on to compare the experience as being asked to hang out with old friends. Putting back the suit on again has left Maguire feeling “pretty at home” almost immediately. Check out his full quote below:
“The suit can definitely be a challenge at a time when you’ve got to get into the full thing,” Maguire said, “But then, once you’re comfortable, there is something fun about it. As an actor, it helps when you get in your costume. You begin to feel it more and embody it more… you start to feel pretty at home pretty swiftly.”
While Marvel has yet to announce if we’ll be seeing Tobey Maguire reprise his Spider-Man once again in the MCU, his fondness for the role along with the plot of Avengers: Secret Wars seemingly confirms he is MCU-bound once more. Seeing as the film will reportedly bring back the classic heroes from the multiverse, which also includes Maguire teaming up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Although Jackman believes that his role on Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds is a “one-and-done”, it would be safe to assume that bringing in the X-Men is a huge opportunity for a long-running role in the MCU.
