After taking a long hiatus from Marvel films, Natalie Portman is set to reprise her role as Jane Foster in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Although rumors have swirled about Portman’s return even before the first trailer's arrival, fans still can't get enough of the scene where Foster was spotted in an awesome Thor get-up, wielding Thor's Mjolnir.

As fans are excited to see Lady Thor in the upcoming film, Thor: Love and Thunder director shares new encouraging details about Portman's return to the franchise.

In an interview with Empire magazine, director Taika Waititi teased Jane Foster's return in the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. Waititi explained, "You don’t want Natalie coming back and playing that same character who’s walking around with science equipment. You know, while Thor’s flying around, she’s left on Earth, tapping her foot going, ‘When’s he going to be back?’ That’s boring. You want her to be part of the adventure."

The director then said that the upcoming film will highlight Portman's humorous side, which comes out naturally but never made it to the Thor films.

“Natalie’s really funny in real life,” the director said. “She’s kind of goofy and has got a great sense of humor, and I don’t think that was exploited enough in the first films.”

Waititi then teased that seeing Foster's Lady Thor would be "mindf***" for Thor after their long-time separation.

“It’s been about eight years. She’s had a whole other life, and then the love of your life comes back on the scene and is now dressed like you. It’s a real mindf*** for Thor.”

Waititi is well known for the hilarious elements that he puts into his films. Attested by Thor: Ragnarok, where Waititi highlighted a version of Thor that totally embraced the character’s humor on another level. And it would it looks like the director will do the same with Portman's Lady Thor.

Despite that, fans completely put their faith in Waititi's approach for Thor: Love and Thunder. With the film seating Portman in a leading role, this is an open opportunity for Waititi to explore more of the character and incorporate his well-known humor elements, which for sure, would definitely be hilarious.

Thor: Love and Thunder will hit the big screens on July 8, 2022.
