Thor: Love and Thunder: Who is Eternity?

In the Marvel comics, Eternity first appeared in 1965 on Stranger Tales #138. Eternity and his sister, Infinity, were created when the Big Bang happened, the birth of the universe and they are the representation of the multiverse with each universe having an Eternity and Infinity.

Before their birth, there was only one universe in existence created by the First Firmament, the ones who created the Celestials. When the Big Bang happened, Eternity and Infinity were created and when the multiverse dies, they would be reborn.

Eternity is a powerful abstract entity that exists beyond the physical limits of life itself, the embodiment of the multiverse, an immortal who lives beyond time and space, who manipulates energy, matter, space, time, and magic. Everything that lives is connected to Eternity.

In Thor: Love and Thunder, Gorr seeks out to reach Eternity at a temple where he would need the Stormbreaker to open the gates. It is said that the first one to find Eternity will be granted one wish and instead of wishing the existence of the gods be eradicated, Gorr asked Eternity to bring his daughter back to life.

Thor: Love and Thunder: How Can Eternity's Existence Affect The MCU?

To start, there is an Eternity Saga in the Marvel comics where Doctor Strange is very much involved. There is also that point in the comics where the multiverse was destroyed by incursions and Reed Richards, Franklin Richards, and Molecule Man ensured the rebirth of Eternity.

With the arrival of Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, there are a lot of potential stories that the MCU can delve in since Eternity encountered Adam Warlock on various occasions, even being imprisoned by the evil alter ego of Adam, Magus.

Summing it up, Eternity's arrival and the introduction of the multiverse makes sense happening successively. Soon, it would be no surprise if Infinity gets introduced next. The Celestials already had their time in Eternals, The Living Tribunal has been teased twice already, Uatu the Watcher already had his series in What If..?, maybe it is time for the abstract entities to enter the MCU.

Thor: Love and Thunder is now showing in theaters worldwide.
