If there is a central theme in Thor: Love and Thunder, it goes around the choices of one person on how much he or she could do for the one he or she loves. As for Gorr, he put it into plan with the temple of Eternity involved, all for his daughter.
Thor: Love and Thunder: The Temple of Eternity and Gorr's Plan Explained
Throughout Gorr's life, the gods have been involved -- from suffering on drought and hunger, to being chosen as the wielder of the All-Black Necrosword, to being the God Butcher in Thor: Love and Thunder.
He embarked on a quest of his lifetime to kill all the gods after discovering that their worship to them would not even be rewarded. He lost his beloved daughter and since then, he had been slaughtering gods he come across to find the perfect tool to open the gates of Eternity.
With the Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor became aware of Gorr's doings, even seeing Lady Sif in a planet, almost dying. Sif informed Thor that gorr is after New Asgard and there, the hero and the villain first met. Gorr kidnapped the children of new Asgard.
With Korg, King Valkyrie, and Mighty Thor, Thor journeyed to Zeus to plead for help, only to be rejected. They stole the lightning bolt and killed Zeus on the way, or so they thought.
Upon reaching the Shadow Realm where Gorr is the strongest and is keeping the children, Jane found out the exact thing that Gorr wants -- the Stormbreaker.
They deduced that Gorr will use the Stormbreaker to open the gates of Eternity, a cosmic and abstract entity who exists beyond the physical limits of life itself, an immortal who lives beyond time and space, who manipulates energy, matter, space, time, and magic. Everything that lives is connected to Eternity.
See, Gorr's plan of eradicating the gods is not without a reason: he wanted to open the Gates of Eternity because Eternity grants the wish of anyone who finds the being first. Gorr wishes to resurrect his daughter who died of starvation.
Eternity gave back the daughter of Gorr but with the villain's demise, he entrusted his daughter to Thor and she is named Love. Being born out of Eternity, Love as much as a daughter of Eternity as a daughter of Gorr. This means that Love inherits some abilities from Eternity as well.
Thor sets on a new journey to being a father, one he never thought could be possible, and while taking care of a child born of Eternity, the path he takes will never be simple but with Love being the embodiment of the word she is named after, Thor's heart remains open and their adventure has just begun.
Thor: Love and Thunder is now playing in theaters.
