Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: What is an Incursion?

A new problem arrives for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduces what an incursion is and what it can do to the different universes. The titular hero learns what happens when one takes place from the Illuminati and he even experienced one on his own. Here’s how it will affect the current narrative of the franchise.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: What is an Incursion?

With the introduction of the multiverse into the franchise, bigger problems await the heroes that remain as the other realities are made known. As America Chavez enters the picture, her abilities not only enable the characters to see through the universes and travel it but also experience the incursions which would surely have an impact in the MCU in the future.

America Chavez can punch through the multiverse with her star-shaped portals and Wanda wants to get this for herself so she can be with her children. A possible effect of this would be when two universes crash and destroy each other, that is exactly what incursion is. This could get both universes to collapse onto each other or one could overpower the other.

When Doctor Strange and America Chavez were taken by the Illuminati, the council explained what happened to Strange Supreme when they experienced an incursion. He used the Darkhold to learn to take Thanos on his own, so, he dream-walked and that caused one whole universe to be completely destroyed and trillion died because of it.

Doctor Strange himself directly walked into a universe experiencing an incursion when he and Christine Palmer from Earth 838 were sent by America Chavez through the place where Sinister Strange was. That universe is falling apart and people are either hiding or dead as it was a complete ghost town.

The post-credits scene also gets a mention of the incursion when Clea, played by Charlize Theron, paid Doctor Strange a visit to ask for his help fixing an incursion happening in the Dark Dimension. Doctor Strange proudly opened his Eye of Agamotto, and he went back to where he imprisoned Dormammu. Does it mean that there would be a reunion between them?
