There is little doubt that The Wheel of Time Season 2 will introduce more characters from Robert Jordan's works. The first season alone has already featured a lot of major players, two of whom will be set for a huge connection to Rand al'Thor. Interestingly, it looks like another major character with a connection to Rand has been cast and will be introduced in the second season! POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD!
The official Twitter account for The Wheel of Time series has just confirmed that Killing Eve star Ayoola Smart will be joining the second season. Moreover, Smart will play the Wise One Aviendha who eventually becomes Rand's second lover.
In the books, Aviendha is an Aiel who becomes one of the Wise Ones when it was discovered that she can wield the One Power. She is believed to be one of the strongest channelers of the One Power and is reportedly second only to the Forsaken. With that in mind, her arrival in The Wheel of Time Season 2 will be something to look forward to.
For now, Ayoola Smart's casting has been the only one that was officially announced. However, there's another casting leak that currently has people talking. It was previously reported that Harry Potter star Katie Leung will play Yassica Cellaech, an ancient prophet who was an Aes Sedai of the Brown Ajah. She doesn't appear in the books but is referenced throughout Jordan's novels. If Leung is playing Yassica in The Wheel of Time Season 2, this could mean we will be seeing a major flashback of how the Brown Ajah was in the past.
The premise of The Wheel of Time Season 2 has not yet been revealed. However, there is a huge chance that Rosamund Pike's Moiraine Damordred will be searching for Rand Al'Thor as a greater battle lies ahead. In addition to that, the rest of the party will be preparing for new fights in the future.
The Wheel of Time Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date.
