Traveling to the Two Rivers

The Wheel of Time Season 1 ended with a bang in Christmas of 2021 leaving many fans of the show on the edge of their seats for the next installment of the series. However, Amazon is yet to announce when The Wheel of Time Season 2 will air in the service.

The series started filming in July 2021 and was projected to end by February 2022, but there have been reports that the series extended filming up to March. There have also been reports that The Wheel of Time director and executive producer Sanaa Hamri shares that the principal photography of the series will wrap up in March 2022. Though the series ends filming early, it is projected to launch in late 2022 to early 2023. Wondering why so late? Amazon's other hard-hitting series, The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power, is set to premiere on September 2, 2022, on Prime Video. Amazon spacing out its releases may be an excellent strategic move, giving fans of its high-fantasy/fiction shows enough time to enjoy LOTR and WoW.

We will also see the return of the antagonists in the series, with Johann Myers as Padan Fein and Fares Fares as The Dark One.

In The Wheel of Time Season 1, Barney Harris played the character of Mat Cauthon, but the part has been re-casted to Dónal Finn. Harris abruptly left the show in Season 1 without any reason or explanation given later on. When asked about Harris' departure from the show, The Wheel of Time showrunner Rafe Judkins refused to comment on the issue.

Aside from the main character in The Wheel of Time, we can also expect other actors to reprise their roles in the series though these appearances are still unconfirmed. These characters include Hammed Animashaun as Loial, Kae Alexander as Min Farshaw, Kate Fleetword as Liandrin, and Sophie Okenado as Siuan Sanche.

There have been reports that a couple of confirmed new cast and characters will be introduced in The Wheel of Time Season 2. The official Twitter account of The Wheel of Time reveals Ceara Coveney has been chosen to play the character of Elayne Trakand, a powerful Aes Sedai who will play a major role in Season 2.

Other actors who will join Season 2 as new characters are Guy Roberts as Uno Nomesta, Arnas Fedaravicius as Masema, and Gregg Chillingirian as Ingtar Shinowa. We can also expect to see Gary Beadle as Elyas, a wolfbrother who is also a Warder. Other casting speculations forecast Marie-France Alvares as Celestin.

Meanwhile, other actors have reportedly been cast for The Wheel of Time Season 2, but their characters are yet to be disclosed. These actors include Natasha J. Murley, Melissa James from Coronation Street, Jessica Boone from Das Boot, and Kenneth Moore from Carnival Row. Laura Crowhurst from The Last Bus, Will Tudor from The Game of Thrones, and Haruka Kuroda from Killing Eve will also play significant roles.

Wolfbrother

As with the first season, The Wheel of Time Season 2 will cover important story plot points from multiple novels in the original book stories. In an interview TVLine, Sander said:

Rafe has been a fantastic leader — thoughtful, kind, really dedicated to trying to do this the right way — and Rosamund as well. So we absolutely went into season 2 with a real conversation about, 'What can we do even better now that we have introduced this giant world and established these characters?' So I will predict that season 2 will be bigger, bolder, and a more expansive Wheel of Time.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 has a lot of loose ends it needs to tie up. Season 1 left us with questions about Rand, the Dragon Reborn, and his journey as he fulfills his destiny as the One Power who is fated to either destroy or save the world. Rand asks his friend, Moiraine, to tell everyone that he perished in his battle against the Dark One before forging on alone. Meanwhile, Moiraine and Lan's relationship shifts as Moiraine loses her connection to the Source and, consequently, the One Power. We may also see how the love triangle between Moiraine, Lan, and Nynaeve is explored.

Season 2 may also show us more about Perrin's wolfbrother powers. Fans will also be pleased to learn that Loial the Ogier is alive after the first season implied Padan Fain ended his life.

The Seanchan, the seafaring empire set to conquer The Wheel of Time's main continent, was introduced and teased in the last episode of Season 1. They may play a bigger role in the second season and significantly affect the course of the series.
