The Wheel of Time returned with Episode 5 proving it is not Game of Thrones in one major way. The rest of the season will refreshingly not be spent with the cast looking for one another. The main characters, who lost each other in previous episodes are already coming back together in the White Tower.
The identity of the Dragon Reborn remains a mystery. There are hints pointing towards all five mains, sustaining the series and making us eager to keep watching. During their month on the road, the Two Rivers youths have developed stronger magical powers than they thought themselves capable of. We thus expect interesting and potentially devastating conflict when they're together again.

The Wheel of Time Episode 5 Recap
Warning: Episode 5 Spoilers Below! Proceed with caution!
Episode 5 sees Moiraine, Lan, and Nynaeve to the White Tower, the Aes Sedai seat of power. Nynaeve expresses concern about Stepin who is still processing Kerene's demise. Moiraine tries to limit Nynaeve to her own quarters, fearing the influence other Aes Sedai might try to assert on her. The young woman still decides to venture out on her own. There, Liandrin tries to persuade her of the merits of becoming a red Ajah. While Nynaeve seems unimpressed, we have yet to see where she'll choose to place her loyalties once she becomes an Aes Sedai novice.
Mat and Rand make their way to Tar Valon. Rand becomes increasingly worried about Mat's odd behavior. With help from Loial, an enigmatic but friendly Ogier, the two men reunite with Nynaeve. Mat rebukes Nynaeve's attempts to heal him and turns violent, though he hardly understands why he acts so. How would the Aes Sedai react if they see him in such a condition? Will they be quick to "gentle" him? And is there anything more sinister going on?
Perrin and Egwene, the only ones not yet reunited with their fellow villagers, have a hard time in Episode 5. While they start the episode peacefully traveling with the Tinkers and on their way to the White Tower, an attack from Whitecloaks ruins the plan. Valda, who remembers Egwene and Perrin's faces from their previous encounter, captures both. Once in his camp, he gives them a terrible choice; under the mistaken belief that Egwene in an Aes Sedai, she asks her to yield the One Power. If she does, he will kill her but spare Perrin. Else, he plans to kill Perrin.
The pair only manages to escape because they both have powers. Egwene manages to channel, while Perrin gets help from the wolves who had been behaving eerily around him throughout the show. Looks like there's an interesting connection between him and animals, the next episode will hopefully explore!
Moiraine and Alanna discuss their worries about the future, including Liandrin's motives and the return of Siuan Sanche, the Amyrlin Seat. Lan finds Stepin dead by suicide and acts as chief mourner at his funeral, where everyone is deep in grief.
