If you are keeping up with the fantasy and sci-fi scene, you must have heard of The Wheel of Time by now. Unlike Netflix shows with similar themes and aesthetics, the Amazon Prime original is not available to binge at once, so it is going to stay around for longer – so will the speculations around the identity of the Dragon Reborn. But how much longer?
The Wheel of Time TV Series: What Is It About?
If you're new to the series, here's a short overview: The Wheel of Time is based on a book series of the same name, written by Robert Jordan. Following his death in 2006, the series was completed by author Brandon Sanderson.
The first season of the Amazon adaptation follows Moiraine, an Aes Sedai - part of an order of all-female magic wielders - as she embarks on what she deems a quest to save the world. In this universe, where time is understood as cyclical, Moiraine senses the coming of age of the Dragon Reborn, a person capable of saving the world or destroying it.
As part of her world-saving quest, Moiraine takes five villagers from the Two Rivers area on a journey, certain that one of them is the person she has been looking for.
How Many Episodes Will Season 1 of The Wheel of Time Have?
The first season of The Wheel of Time will consist of eight episodes in total. This has been the case with other similar fantasy series including but not limited to Shadow and Bone.
Will There Be More The Wheel of Time Content?
Does this mean that this is all The Wheel of Time content we can expect? Not at all! As has been confirmed, The Wheel of Time Season 2 is already a certainty. Furthermore, the filming is already halfway through. Whether or not it will pick up beyond that will depend on how viewers are going to receive the first two seasons.
