The Walking Dead’s Morgan Talks More About What Happens in The Kingdom

The Kingdom, the playground for new character Ezekiel in The Walking Dead, has remained a mystery for non-comic book followers. From what has been released in the official trailer, it's a much bigger setting than Alexandria's peaceful little subdivision. And it's ruled by a very eccentric character who acts and looks the part of a king—and who has a pet tiger by his side.

While we don't really know how much of the story will involve The Kingdom or how it will influence the current overarching plot that is the badass Negan, we get a glimpse of how some of the mainstays will interact with the new location.

One of the technically major characters in The Walking Dead, Morgan, shares with Entertainment Weekly that he and Carol will be among the first of Rick's gang to step foot into the new community. From the looks of it, actor Lennie James feels that his character may be looking at the change in a very accepting manner.

Considering the fast pace that Morgan has been changing attitudes despite holding fast and strong to his no-kill beliefs, we can see this fit right in his alley.

James stated that Ezekiel may make his own mark in terms of being a known leader of a group in The Walking Dead.

"One of the things The Walking Dead is that the leaders of all the different kinds of worlds that we've come across are in some way kind of iconic. Deanna was a congresswoman and she ran Alexandria in the spirit of the shape that she cut in the world… as for Rick's group, Rick is a symbolic figure of a town sheriff. And the same with Negan, and the same, to a certain extent, with Ezekiel. He is running a Kingdom, and as a Kingdom, he is trying as best as he can to personify the image of a king, albeit a king who has a pet tiger."

Well, this certainly suggests that we'll be seeing two very different leaders for the new season. There's the Oddball and there's the Bully. But more importantly, what I would want to know is what kind of leader Rick will be after the first episode and the succeeding ones under Negan's rule.

Will he rise up after that experience or spiral down into something that will forever change the game and the gang?

The Walking Dead will be back on AMC on Oct. 23.
