The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland opened up about the involvement of Dave Filoni in the making of the new series.
Last year, the long-time Star Wars filmmaker was promoted to Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm and he now oversees the development of all projects that are being made in the franchise across film and TV.
Fans are wondering whether Filoni had any major involvement in the making of The Acolyte considering that it is disconnected from the MandoVerse projects and is exploring a different mythology than the other live-action shows.
The Acolyte Showrunner Reveals Dave Filoni Served as Her Mentor
In an interview, Headland revealed that Filoni was her mentor during the writing process of The Acolyte.
The Lucasfilm CCO guided her on the creation of the witch coven led by Mother Aniseya as we've seen in the recent episode.
"Dave Filoni very quickly became kind of a mentor of mine in terms of navigating what this part of the timeline would be like for both the Jedi and then other Force users. It was kind of this 'A-ha!' moment for me when he told me, 'You know, not all witches are Nightsisters,'" the showrunner shared.
Thanks to Filoni's advice about the witches in Star Wars, Headland was able to come up with the idea of creating a witch coven for the series and add to the mythology of the Force.
We've heard stories in the past that Filoni has always been guiding the new filmmakers who are joining the Star Wars franchise, and it's great to hear that it continues with The Acolyte as they explore a new territory that no other live-action projects have ever done before.
Given that Filoni is now the CCO of Lucasfilm, he is expected to continue guiding Headland and The Acolyte team as they navigate the future of the series and come up with more mythology about the High Republic era.
