Squid Game Season 2 Confirmed with First Cryptic Teaser

We already know that Squid Game was set to get the green light and move forward with Season 2. Not surprisingly, Netflix has just dropped the first teaser for the South Korean show's second season and it offers a cryptic glimpse at what the future holds.

The brief teaser for Squid Game Season 2 was shared by the Netflix Geeked Twitter account. The video is only 10 seconds long but it highlights some of the most memorable things about the show. The teaser shows the eye of the giant robot doll in the first episode as it chants, "The roses of Sharon have bloomed" ("Mugunghwa kkoci pieot seumnida") while the trademark shapes (a triangle, circle, and square) flash at the bottom of the screen.

Sure, it doesn't show much but the teaser somehow hints that we'll be seeing those shapes and that doll again in Squid Game Season 2. Although it's an exciting possibility, we're hoping that the second season will feature new games as well.

So what else can we look forward to in Squid Game Season 2? Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has repeatedly stated that he is still working on the new episodes. However, there is a huge chance we'll get to see Lee Jung-jae return as Seong Gi-hun aka Player 456 since he was the winner in the first season. Hwang had also teased that Jung Ho-yeon could be brought back as a completely new character.

For now, Squid Game Season 2 has not yet started production nor has it been given an official release date. In the meantime, Hwang Dong-hyuk is working on a different project for Netflix called The Best Show on the Planet which is based on the success of his beloved series. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
