Squid Game Creator Confirms Fan-Favorite Actor's Return in Season 2

We already know that Squid Game Season 2 is happening and people are already expecting Lee Jung-jae to return as Player 456 aka Seong Gi-hun. However, it looks like Gi-hun isn't the only player who will be back in the second season of the Netflix series. Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk has just confirmed that a fan-favorite actor is returning to the South Korean show!

In the first season of Squid Game, Player 456 was the winner (and sole survivor) of the harrowing game in the race to win 45.6 billion won. Although it is still unclear what will happen in Season 2, Gi-hun is the one character who is sure to return. However, Hwang Dong-hyuk has just confirmed that there's another actor who played a character who was ultimately killed off that will be back in the series.

Hwang recently spoke to Deadline on the red carpet at the PGA Awards ceremony where he was asked if there are any Season 1 cast members who will be back in the second season. Not surprisingly, the creator that might not happen.

“No, because most of them are dead,” Hwang said, laughing. He then assured them that he will work something out. “I’ll try something to bring them back to Season 2.”

Interestingly, Hwang then pointed out Jung Ho-yeon who was also on the red carpet. “Let’s say maybe she has a twin sister, you’ll see,” he said.

It's an interesting tease considering that fans were dismayed when Jung's character Kang Sae-byeok was killed by Cho Sang-woo (Park Hae-soo) in the first season's Episode 8. We'd love to see Jung back again in Squid Game Season 2 but we're hoping the show makes it for a better reason than a twin.

Squid Game Season 2 has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
