Squid Game Season 2 will feature some conflict that its creator described as something comparable to that of Star Wars.

Hwang Dong-hyuk, the Netflix phenomenon's creator, made this startling Star Wars reference when exploring new possibilities for characters in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“... I would think that in the second season, what he has learned from the games and his experience in the first season, they will all be put to use in a more active manner. And at the same time, as for the Front Man [Lee Byung-hun] who was also a past winner but became a Front Man, it's like Darth Vader. Some end up Jedi and some become Darth Vader, right?”
"I think that maybe Gi-hun will go through a certain critical point where he is put through a test as well."

Gi-Hun’s Dilemma in Squid Game Season 1 Ending

Season 1 of Squid Game featured Lee Jung-Jae's character Gi-hun as he joins 455 other players who are struggling in their life.

The players have willingly decided to participate in the games due to various situations, despite the fact that losers are executed. The reward money grows as each participant is eliminated until there is just one survivor.

After a grueling struggle with his best buddy Sang-Woo, Gi-hun is named the winner of the Squid Games. Gi-Hun is planning a trip to see his daughter in America after not using the prize money for a year.

However, Gi-Hun refuses to board the plane, leaving viewers to wonder if he will exact vengeance on the game's creators.

Squid Game Season 2 Expectations

Lee's outstanding performance as Gi-hun provided viewers with a solid connection to the universe Hwang created in Season 1. Putting Gi-hun through a Jedi/Darth Vader-style test would be an interesting move for the series, and one that would follow in the footsteps of past game victors.

Characters such as the Front Man, who had his own stormy background, have already established many opportunities for Gi-hun to explore as he continues to live with the results of the games from season one, as Hwang stated.

Fans can only speculate about what Hwang and Lee have in store for Gi-hun and the perilous games that may arise until Netflix officially greenlights Squid Game Season 2. While fans are unsure whether Squid Game will return, it's safe to say Hwang has a lot of ideas for where the show could go in the future.

For the time being, Hwang, Lee, and the other Squid Game stars can bask in the success of their and the crew's hard work.
