Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Scores Longer Runtime Than Its Predecessor

Sony’s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has scored a record-breaking runtime!

The Into the Spider-Verse sequel is set to focus on Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) and Spider-Gwen’s (Hailee Steinfeld) trip back into the multiverse, which also brings back Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson).

Across the Spider-Verse will center around Miles and Gwen Stacy’s blooming romance, as producer Amy Pascal previously teased.

Of course, who could forget the many Spider-variants Miles and Gwen will be meeting along the way, including The Spot, Spider-Punk, and more.

With the multiverse broadening in Miles’ universe, it is only natural for the sequel to gain a longer runtime as compared to its original film.

Now, Twitter user Cryptic HD QUALITY reports that Across the Spider-Verse has an official DCP runtime of 140 minutes or two hours and 20 minutes in total.

A follow-up confirmed this runtime, per movie theater chain AMC Theatres, making Across the Spider-Verse one of the longest Western animated feature films ever.

The predecessor, Into the Spider-Verse, ran for one hour and 56 minutes, which the sequel already surpassed, according to the news outlet.

Seeing as Into the Spider-Verse merely scratched the surface on who Miles Morales is, his abilities, and finding his purpose as the new hero of his universe, it goes without saying that Across the Spider-Verse will be opening up more challenges for the young web-slinger.

Not to mention, with the new mission of “stopping universes from colliding”, Across the Spider-Verse will be introducing the many Spider-Man variants across its 71 years of history!

As teased by its official poster, we are also set to see the appearances of the Spider-Men versions of the MCU’s Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, and Andrew Garfield.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is expected to premiere on June 2.
