Andy Samberg Cast In Mystery Role In Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse


Actor and comedian Andy Samberg just confirmed he has joined Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse in a mystery role.

Last June, Sony Pictures Animation announced that Jorma Taccone is officially a part of Across the Spider-Verse cast. Taccone is the voice behind the classic Spider-Man villain Adrian Toomes/Vulture.

As a member of Samberg’s The Lonely Island (comedy/music trio group), people would be pleased to hear that even Samberg himself is now a part of the cast member for the Into the Spider-Verse sequel!

The Lonely Island took this news on their Instagram with the caption: “Jorm and Andy are “in” this!!” along with the official poster of Across the Spider-Verse. Check out the Instagram story below (via CBR.com):

It is worth mentioning this is not Samberg’s first voice acting gig, as he had also previously lent his voice on animated films such as Hotel Transylvania, Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, and more.

Amid this good news, we have yet to receive an update on what role he has been casted in. Rest assured though we’ll be finding this out sooner than you think!

The official plot synopsis of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse follows “Miles Morales reuniting with Gwen Stacy as they once again leap through the Multiverse, where both heroes meet more teams of Spider-People.”

“However, as heroes clash with one another, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders and must redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most.”

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse stars Shameik Moore (Miles Morales/Spider-Man), Hailee Steinfeld (Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman), Jake Johnson (Peter B. Parker/Spider-Man), and Oscar Isaac (Miguel O’Hara/Spider-Man 2099).

The Spider-Verse sequel’s roster also includes newcomers such as Issa Rae as Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman, Daniel Kaluuya as Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk, Karan Soni as Pavitr Prabhakar/Spider-Man India and Jason Schwartzman as the Spot, the main villain of the film.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is slated for its theatrical release this June 2.
